Massachusetts Superior Court Standing Order 1-80: Notices of Appeal-Notification to Justices
(Applicable to Appeals Taken in Civil and Criminal Cases)
Effective March 3, 1980, it is hereby ORDERED that:
Whenever, pursuant to the provisions of Massachusetts Rule of Appellate Procedure 3(d), a Clerk of the Superior Court Department serves notice of the filing of a notice of appeal from a final judgment, the clerk shall also notify the justice from whose judgment the appeal is being claimed that a notice of appeal has been so filed. The notification to the justice shall be in writing and shall designate the case in which the appeal is being claimed by caption and docket number; and shall identify the party or parties claiming the appeal. (A suggested uniform form of notification to a justice is attached hereto.)
