WELD GOVERNOR EXECUTIVE ORDER No. 369 (Revoking Executive Order 359) WHEREAS, through Executive Orders 281, 288, and 359, the Commonwealth has sought to support the people of South Africa in their fight for democracy and human rights; and WHEREAS, on April 26 through April 29, 1994, after decades of struggle against the evils of apartheid, the Republic of South Africa held its first all-race elections; and WHEREAS, the Commonwealth participated in this historic event by providing a venue for absentee voting for all South African citizens present in the New England area on April 26, 1994; and WHEREAS, at this auspicious time, the removal of all restrictions upon companies doing business in South Africa will promote economic development, and thereby strengthen South Africa's new democracy; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, William F. Weld, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supreme Executive Magistrate, do hereby revoke, effective as of this date, Executive Order 359.
